FAQ

General

Will you help me relocate to Sweden?

Yes, we’ll help you relocate and get settled into your new hometown of Stockholm. For the Trainee program we offer a relocation package, which you’ll learn about further along in the recruitment process. If you are assigned to a rotation or project outside of Sweden, we’ll help you relocate to that new location as well.

What support will I have during the program?

You’ll be supported every step of the way. You’ll have a dedicated career mentor to coach and guide you throughout the year, and experienced colleagues from different areas of the business will be on hand to help you learn. You’ll also have the chance to connect with trainees from the previous year’s cohort and take some guidance from their experience.

How will I be compensated?

As a trainee, you will get a Swedish market-based, monthly salary throughout the program and H&M Group employee benefits, too.

Application and recruitment process

Who can apply?

You’ll do well if you have an education in Engineering, Business, Economics, Data Science, Fashion Design or similar. The only language that is essential for the program is English.

Am I able to change my application after sending it in? For example, update my CV?

You can add documents to your application by logging into your SmartRecruiters account, which you can create after applying to the H&M Group Trainee program.

Do I need to speak Swedish to apply?

No, you don’t need to speak Swedish to be eligible for the Trainee program. At H&M Group our corporate language is English, and that is what you’ll speak every day at work. So the only mandatory language is English.

In which language and format do you accept applications?

You should write your application in English. Upload your CV and your proof of education when you’re applying, but at this stage you don’t need to write a cover letter or attach any written references.

What happens after the last application date?

We’ll be in touch after the last application date. If we believe you’ve got what it takes, you will be invited to complete our online assessment. The next step will be an assessment day for each track in February, and the final interviews will take place in late February or at the beginning of March.

When is the application period?

The application period will start at the end of November.

What is the employment period for the program?

As a trainee you’ll be employed on a 14-month fixed-term contract. We aim to see all of our trainees progress to permanent roles at H&M Group after the program. So during the program we will work with you to explore your next steps and to find the right role for your future.
